Currently CEO at The Jewish Chronicle, Jo’s previous roles include General Manager at The Sun & COO Wireless [both News UK], Chair for The Lotteries Council, Managing Director at People’s Postcode Lottery, Deputy CEO for Leicester City FC, Group Managing Director at GCap PLC and Managing Director of Century Radio.
As part of our Meet the Board series, we sat down with chair of audioadpro’s board, Jo Bucci, to hear more about her career and perspective.
- You’ve held leadership roles across media, sport, and the lottery and gaming sector – what connects these experiences, and how have they shaped your leadership style?
Across every industry I’ve worked in, media, sport, or the lottery and gaming sector, the common thread has been purpose, audiences, and people. Each role required understanding what truly motivates teams, customers, and stakeholders, and then aligning that with a clear commercial and organisational vision.
Working across different environments has taught me to be both adaptive and consistent; adaptive in how I approach challenges, but consistent in my values, accountability, and communication. I’m a collaborative leader by nature, but I’m also very focused on delivery. I believe people perform at their best when they know the direction of travel, feel empowered, and understand the impact of what they do. Those principles have shaped my leadership style throughout my career.
- As chair of audioadpro’s board, what excites you most about the company’s mission and the role it plays in the audio advertising landscape?
What excites me most is that audioadpro is bringing a very real, professional solution to buying digital audio advertising. Brands and agencies want to invest more in audio, audiences are available in huge numbers, but the path from creative idea to a scalable, measurable execution hasn’t always been straightforward. audioadpro changes that.
The company sits at the intersection of creativity, technology, and data insight, and that’s an incredibly powerful place to be. Its mission to simplify, accelerate, and elevate audio advertising means we can unlock more value for clients. It’s a business with momentum, but also with a clear purpose to make audio advertising easier and more effective for everyone involved.
That’s a mission worth championing.
- Having led organisations through industry changes, what lessons stand out about adapting and staying ahead?
The biggest lesson is that change is rarely comfortable, but it is always necessary. Businesses evolve, audiences evolve, and technology reshapes expectations faster than ever. Successful organisations are those that lean into change early rather than react to it late.
Three things stand out from my experience:
- Stay close to your customer; they often see the shifts before you do.
- Invest in capability before you feel fully ready; waiting for perfect conditions usually means missing the moment.
- Communicate relentlessly. People can handle hard decisions, but they struggle with uncertainty. Keeping teams informed, involved, and supported is critical during periods of transition.
Ultimately, adapting well is about being decisive, listening widely, and creating a culture where innovation and accountability coexist.
- Where do you see the biggest opportunities for audioadpro, and how do you envision the board supporting that growth?
The opportunities for audioadpro are significant. Audio consumption continues to rise, creative formats are expanding, and advertisers are increasingly looking for partners who can streamline the process and demonstrate clear outcomes with data evidence. There is huge potential in helping brands scale audio advertising more confidently and efficiently.
I see opportunities in three key areas:
- Leveraging data and insights to help advertisers make smarter decisions and measure performance.
- Growing our tech stack.
- Expanding internationally, where demand for audio solutions is strong but often underserved.
The board’s role is to ensure the company has the vision, governance, and resources to achieve that growth. That means challenging thoughtfully, supporting strategically, and creating the conditions for the executive team to excel. My focus as chair is to help the business stay ambitious, stay sharp, and stay true to its mission as it scales.
We’re grateful to Jo for sharing her insights on leadership, strategy, and audioadpro’s direction. Her experience and perspective as chair of the board provide valuable guidance as the company continues to grow, and we’re excited to see what’s ahead.
